Team Big Rivers Great Lakes Minnesota serves naturalists and early career science communicators in north-central Minnesota.
Our team is interested in creating a climate communication curriculum based on Earth Science that increases our participants’ understanding of science not just as a concept but actionable steps and entices curiosity about science. By the end of the course our team wil have built an empowering climate literacy curriculum and science communications framework that catalyzes our participants' interests, passions and curiosity about northern Minnesota’s natural ecosystems into a localized, region-specific climate-ready actionable community of practice.
This team attended the Earth to Sky Academy in autumn 2026. Earth to Sky regional teams go through a competitive selection process and experience an intensive train-the-trainer on NASA Earth science, communication techniques, and Earth to Sky methodology. After completing the Academy, each team offers at least two Earth science communication courses in their region, while serving as a resource and focal point for their community of place based educators, organizations and students on an ongoing basis.
Stay tuned to hear more about this team's future plans!
