Bio/Abstract

Those of you who run summer camps, multiday group experiences, or other lengthier environmental education experiences will be interested in this conversational webinar!

Our friends at NASA eClips are glad to talk to you about your plans and offer their help in co-designing experiences for your learners to confront scientific misconceptions related to the themes of your site. They have successfully collaborated with Earth to Sky community members in previous summers in designing enriching place-based experiences for learners and would like to start new collaborations with you.

NASA Spotlites are short 90 to 120-second videos, skits, or infographics created by learners to address misconceptions. Join us to learn how to run the NASA Spotlites Design Challenge with campers or multiday groups at your site. Joan Harper-Neely from NASA eClips and Josephine Spearman from the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve share planning and implementation tips for engaging learners as well as free resources to create digital content. Campers learn how to make claims, collect evidence to debunk misconceptions and communicate their findings.
