Our World is Changing - Do you have the tools to stay relevant?
A Two-day pre-conference workshop on climate science and communication at the 2019 National Association for Interpretation National Conference
November 11-12, 2019
Join us in beautiful Denver, Colorado for this Earth to Sky workshop designed to help you meet the challenges of connecting with visitors on climate change. In our experiential and collaborative learning environment you will learn foundational climate science, engage with scientists and peers, and gain exposure to new technologies.
The workshop includes dedicated time for you to create a plan to integrate the latest science, emerging technologies, and innovative communication techniques into your interpretive efforts. You will learn how to use systems thinking for understanding and interpreting climate change. We will introduce NASA visualizations and citizen science tools, and share examples of climate interpretation.
We will spend the second day at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) Mesa Lab (transportation provided). There we will learn about and discuss local impacts of global change with researchers studying climate and global dynamics. We will explore data visualization and virtual reality technologies, and engage with NCAR’s communication and education professionals. Together we will share and compare best practices and challenges in climate science communication and audience engagement.
Space is limited to 25 participants so sign up soon!
NAI fee for this workshop is $196
