Bio/Abstract

Jenny and National ETS team member and former interpretive ranger Hazel Galloway modeled one way to teach the science from Dr. Bergstrom’s water rights session. In a 45-minute program, the two wove participant stories and lived experiences into the history and future of water rights. The program was created using The National Park Service’s arc of dialogue model, founded on the pricipals of audience-centered interpretation.

The "arc of dialogue" is a strategy for scaffolding audience questions to engage with a larger, essential question. Click on the "ACE Workbook" file below for an in-depth guide to this methodology from the NPS.

The outline of the sample arc of dialogue presented here is also posted, in addition to the gallery walk quotes. Other sample arcs of dialogue are included as well, for your inspiration!
