For the second day of Recharge! we were joined by Dr. Anna Bergstrom. She received her PhD from University of Colorado, studying how dust influences melt on glaciers in Antarctica. Dr. Bergstrom's current research focuses on intermittent streams in Idaho, and she teaches courses on hydrology, biogeochemistry, and glaciology at Boise State University.
In Dr. Bergstrom's first session, she explored the complexity of our place in the watershed using a concept mapping activity. In the second session, she used an interactive timeline to explain Water Rights law in the West. By taking a long view, participants were able to understand how our systems of water distribution were created, and how we may need to adjust them in a future with less water available.
