Bio/Abstract

Abstract:

Geneviève de Messières, Earth to Sky Lead, provides an introduction and background on the Earth to Sky Interagency Partnership
Peter Griffith, Chief Support Scientist, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, presents basic climate science information, and
Earth to Sky Coastal Alaska Regional Leaders, including Laura Buchheit (NPS), Rick Fritsch (NOAA), Jamie Hart (NPS), Emma Johnson (NPS), and Laurie Lamm (USFS), and John Morris (ETS), introduce the Coastal Alaska Team and their goals going forward.

This is the first in a series of four webinars in which ETS Coastal Alaska Region members join together to learn, connect, and share information about climate change in coastal Alaska. This webinar introduces the global to local connection of climate change with special emphasis on the carbon cycle. Discussion centers on communication of this science in coastal Alaska interpretive sites. The Coastal Alaska Region includes the communities, lands, waters, glaciers, coastal forests, and ocean ecosystems of south central and southeast Alaska, bounded and encompassed by the Alaska coastal mountain range. Geographically, this reaches from the Kenai Peninsula through the Alaskan panhandle.
