Bio/Abstract

Carol Roig has worked in communications and program design for community development, environmental advocacy, healthcare and K-12 education. Most recently, as a Sustainability Analyst in the Sullivan County Office of Sustainable Energy, she has focused on policy development and outreach on climate change, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable municipal operations. From 2012-2016 she served as Co-Executive Director for Sullivan Alliance for Sustainable Development (SASD). Her sustainability column, “Mixed Greens,” appears monthly in The River Reporter.

Through participation in this session, participants will be able to:

  • Access the public opinion research of the Yale Program and generate local climate opinion profiles for perspective on our communities.
  • Describe how the social science perspective can enhance their understanding of public attitudes about climate change and develop effective communication strategies.
  • Assess which key policies might have traction with a majority of Americans and in our communities.
